The main project objectives are:
– To strenghthen the capacity and create opportunities for environmental education in the cross border region;
– To promote environmental awareness, responsible behavior, and eventually action through education;
– To build a connection to the environment, and change the perceptions youth has on the environment.

PROJECT: “YOUNG2YOUNG“
At the beginning of December 2019, PLANT began implementing the ”Youth 2Youth” project in partnership with the Center Act of Society from Tirana, Albania, supported through the second Open Call for Proposals of Civil Society Organizations and Secondary Schools implemented by the Regional Office for Youth Cooperation (RYCO) and supported by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF).
The main objective of the project is to contribute to the reconciliation process and intercultural dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the capacity of young people to prepare and play theater.
The specific objectives of the project are:
– to raise awareness among young people from Albania and Serbia of the need for reconciliation and intercultural dialogue through a series of workshops and through increasing the mobility and exchange of young people between Serbia and Albania;
– promoting tolerance and cultural diversity by playing theater in 6 different cities in Serbia and Albania.
PLANT implemented the project “Green Corner” in partnership with the elementary school “Vojislav Ilic Mlađi” Hum, from September to November 2019, with the financial support of the City of Nis, the Secretariat for Environmental Protection.
The aim of the project was to raise environmental awareness and proper relation to the natural environment through activities on the school yard.
As part of the schoolyard landscaping action, a school fountain was renovated and some 20 aliens, fruit trees and ornamental shrubs were planted. In addition to the students and the teaching staff, the parents of the students participated in the action.
PROJECT: “SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE: THOUGTS FOR TOMORROW”
Between October and December 2018, the Plant implemented a project called “Sustainable Energy and Climate Change: Thoughts for Tomorrow” supported by the City of Niš, the Secretariat for Environmental Protection.
The overall objective of the project is to raise citizens’ awareness of the need to respect measures to improve energy efficiency and encourage the use of renewable energy sources.
The specific objectives of the project are:
-increase citizens’ awareness and knowledge of energy efficiency and renewable energy
-motivate citizens to implement energy efficiency improvement measures
promote the use and advocacy of renewable energy

PROJECT: “ZELENA GREEN ENERGY IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS’’
During December 2018 and January 2019, the Plant implemented the project “Green Energy in Primary Schools” supported by Telekom Srbija.
The main objective of the project is to promote the right to a healthy environment and to develop the environmental awareness of rural primary school pupils.
The specific objectives of the project are:
1.Raising awareness and encouraging primary school pupils to conserve natural resources and use them sustainably through saving water and electricity
2.Promotion of the use of renewable energy sources
PROJECT: ”Networking for women entrepreneurship”
In September 2018, Plant started a project titled “Networking for Women Entrepreneurship”, which was supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of RS.
The objectives of the project are:
1. Strengthen the capacities of young women and girls for employment and self-employment through theoretical and practical training
2. Create a sustainable model of support for women entrepreneurship through the establishment of a Women’s Entrepreneurship Promotion Office
PROJECT: ”Empowering women from the village for the production of flowers”
From June to September 2018 Plant implemented the project “Empowering women from the village for the production of flowers” funded by the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP)
The goal of the project was to empower marginalized women from the village through prevention and protection from gender-based economic violence.
The goal of the project was achieved by increasing the capacity of women from the village to start their own business in the production of flowers in a protected area.
PROJECT: “CHANGE HABITS – SAVE ENERGY”
During November and December 2017, Plant implemented the project “CHANGE HABITS – SAVE ENERGY”, which was supported by the City of Niš, the Secretariat for Environmental Protection.
The goal of the project is to raise awareness and encourage primary school students to preserve natural resources and their sustainable use through water and electricity savings and the use of renewable energy sources.
Results of the project:
– 100 students were interviewed before education and after education and the measured effect of education
– realized set of 8 education in two primary schools: Karadjordje in Gornji Matejevac and Cegar in Nis
– Measured electricity and water consumption in two schools before the start of the project and after the completion of the project
– demonstrated use of photovoltaic panels

PROJECT: Climate Change and European Integration: What is the Price of Pollution?
In November 2017, PLANT started the implementation of the project “Climate Change and European Integration: What is the Price of Pollution?”, Which was supported by the European Movement in Serbia.
This project is part of a larger project “Europe for Me” implemented by the European Movement in Serbia with the support of the Delegation of the European Union. The aim of the project is to increase the knowledge of the citizens of Serbia on the European values and functioning of the European Union, as well as to approximate the process of Serbia’s accession to the EU, and use and influence their daily lives in the negotiation process. The primary target group is young people, the media, and the general population on the whole territory of Serbia.

PROJECT: “Empowering Young People for Solidarity Economy”
In August 2016, the Association of Citizens Plant started the implementation of the project “Empowering the Young People for a Solidarity Economy”, which was supported by the City of Nis, the Youth Administration.
The goal of the project is to reduce youth unemployment through the active involvement of students of the final years of secondary vocational schools in extracurricular activities for acquiring entrepreneurial skills and self-employment, with an emphasis on social entrepreneurship.
The project envisages the formation of social enterprises in two secondary vocational schools in Niš, “Law-economy School” and “School of Fashion and Beauty”. The target group are students of the third and fourth year who are motivated to acquire new knowledge and skills and strengthen their capacities for entrepreneurship.

PROJECT: “Empowering young people through the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills”
The project “Empowering young people through the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills” with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia (www.mos.gov.rs), are implemented by the Association of Citizens PLANT, the Agricultural Expert Service Agrozem doo and the Citizens’ Initiative for Employment from Nis, in the period from June 2016 to February 2017.
The overall goal of the project is to empower young people to achieve economic independence by increasing knowledge and improving skills for self-employment in the field of agricultural production.
Expected direct results of the project are:
– Animated 300 young people to acquire new knowledge and skills
– Provided material and technical prerequisites for practical youth training
– Raise the capacity of 50 young people to produce vegetables and self-employment
– Incubated 10 young people with mentoring support
PROJECT: “Sign language for better access to the education system”
At the beginning of May 2016, the Association of Citizens Plant signed a contract with the Mayor of the City of Nis on the implementation of the project “Sign language for better access to the education system”.
The aim of the project is to train students / representatives of elementary schools in the city of Niš from the basis of a sign language that will enable parents / guardians of students who are deaf or hard of hearing to overcome barriers when accessing the education system.
The purpose of the project is to break down prejudices against deaf people, to contribute to more efficient inclusion of deaf and hard of hearing and encourage deaf people to engage in community social life.
Results of the project:
– Provide support to people with hearing impairments to access the education system, encourage their social inclusion and psychological empowerment;
– Greater social inclusion of people with hearing impairments in society, improving the quality of life of people with hearing impairments, improving their psycho-physical condition and their greater visibility in the community.

PROJECT: “Empowered women for the next step”
During May and June 2016, Association of citizens Plant implemented the project “Empowered Women for the Next Step” funded by the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP) and with the support of the Center for Girls from Nis.
The aim of the project is to empower the beneficiaries of the Center for Girls from Niš through self-defense trainings, in order to build confidence, personal courage and ability to manage crisis situations in order to protect themselves from the perpetrators.

PROJECT: “Changing habits – supporting nature”
In April 2016, Association of citizens Plant initiated the implementation of the project “Changing habits – supporting nature”, which was supported by the City of Nis, the Directorate for Economy, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection.
The goal of the project is to raise the awareness of the population, especially young people, about sustainable development and sustainable habits, through activism, building partnership and creating an open, inclusive e-platform in the field of environmental protection.
The results of the project are:
- Improved values, behavior and lifestyles of citizens in the area of sustainable development;
- Changing attitudes and behaviors of citizens regarding waste, food, water, transport, energy, consumption and nature issues;
- A software application for mapping environmental problems is created.
Project: “Improvement of the environment through selective collection of waste in elementary schools in the Nisava region”
In the period from August to November 2015, the Association of citizens Plant implemented the project “Enhancing the environment through selective waste collection in elementary schools in the Nisava region” with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and with the partnership support of the Regional Center for Professional Development of Employees Education from Nis.
The main objective of the project is to improve the environment through the action of selective waste collection and dissemination of knowledge about the environmental impact on health in the school youth in Nisava region.
Project results:
– Created and distributed 28,000 three-handed flyers with a timetable in 47 primary schools in Nisava region
– A seminar for representatives of all elementary schools was realized
– Installed boxes for old batteries in schools
– Collected 6.5 tons of EE waste and old batteries – taken over by the authorized operator of hazardous waste “Jugoimpex EE recycling” from Nis
– ’’Jugoimpex EE recycling’’ awarded at the press conference the most successful students

Project: “Strengthening the capacity of CSOs and competencies of civil servants for the implementation of anti-discrimination policies in the Nishav district”
In the period from August to December 2015, the Center for the Development of Civil Society Protecta and the Association of Citizens PLANT from Nis implemented the project “Strengthening the capacity of CSOs and the competences of civil servants for the implementation of anti-discrimination policies in Nišavski district” with the support of the Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Republic of Serbia.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations in 11 municipalities in the Nisava District and to strengthen the competences of civil servants at the local level in the field of social inclusion of vulnerable social groups.
Project results:
-Improved capacities of CSO representatives for implementation of anti-discrimination policies through three-day training
-Strengthened competencies of civil servants at the local level in the field of social inclusion of vulnerable social groups through a two-day training
– A mechanism prepared for the implementation of anti-discrimination policies
– A Memorandum of Understanding signed between the protector of citizens and CSOs that will become a special “contact point” in their municipalities, where there is no Ombudsman.

RESEARCH: “Russians in the territory of Serbia in the 19th and 20th centuries”
During November and December 2014, in cooperation with the Center for Geostrategic Studies, PLANT organized a research on the topic: “Russians in the territory of Serbia in the 19th and 20th centuries”.
ACTION: Round Table “Opportunities for Economic Cooperation and Export to Russia”
On October 1, 2014, in cooperation with the Center for Geostrategic Studies, PLANT organized a round table on the topic: “Opportunities for Economic Cooperation and Export to Russia”. The round table was attended by representatives of the business sector.
ACTION: Discussion “Ukrainian crisis and the role of the West”
On September 25, 2014, in cooperation with the Center for Geostrategic Studies, PLANT organized a discussion on the topic: “Ukrainian crisis and role of the West”. The discussion was attended by representatives of non-governmental, public and private sectors.
PROJECT: Workshops and research on human rights and gender equality
During September and October 2014, the representatives of PLANT and the Civil Initiative for Employment organized workshops in the 10 primary schools in the Nisava region on human rights and gender equality. The aim of the campaign was to raise the awareness of the young people on human rights and gender equality. In the framework of the project with NGO EHO from Prokuplje, a survey was conducted on what students of elementary schools know about human rights and gender equality.

During April and May 2014 representatives of PLANT and the Civil Initiative for Employment organized ecological workshops in 7 primary schools in the Nisava region on recycling.

The aim of the campaign was to raise the awareness of the young people on energy efficiency and environmental protection. PROJECT: “SAFE SCHOOL – OUR NEW RULE”
From April to June 2013, the Association PLANT, with the support of the American Embassy in Serbia, implemented the project “SAFE SCHOOL – OUR NEW RULE”. The project focused on the current biggest security problem of school youth – violence, with the aim of promoting solutions for rehabilitation and prevention of violence.
The main goal of the project is prevention of violence in school youth.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- Education of high school youth for combating violence in schools
- Training of volunteers for the prevention of violence
- Developing mechanisms for controlling violent persons
The project was realized through two groups of activities:
- Through learning the skills of communication and non-violent resolution of conflict and violent situations, eg, mediation mediation, restitution, etc.
- Through training in martial arts and learning to fight without weapons in order to gain self-confidence, personal courage and ability to handle crisis situations, for the sake of self-protection and protection of pupils of school and employees, as well as retention of violent persons until the arrival of the police.
ACTION: “Be OK! EARTH DAY”
During the celebration of the Earth Day, on April 24, 2013, representatives of PLANT organized a campaign of collecting old batteries with students of primary school Dusko Radovic from Nis and held a short workshop on recycling with the youngest students.
PROJECT: “Promotion of the Right to a Healthy Environment in Primary Schools”
From March to May 2012, the Association PLANT, with the support of the Environmental Protection Fund of the Republic of Serbia, implemented the project in 29 primary schools in the Nisava region.
The aim of the project is to promote the right to a healthy environment and to develop ecological awareness of school youth in the rural areas of the Nisava region.
The purpose of the project is to promote ecological awareness among school youth in rural areas, to supplement ecological education and to enable young people to acquire the ecological habits that they will transfer to their surroundings.
Results of the project:
- Increased awareness of school youth about the right to a healthy environment
- Publication and distribution of 13,000 brochures and 1,000 posters
- 13,000 students were enrolled in 29 elementary schools

PROJECT: “Creation of an action plan for improving the position of women and promoting gender equality in the municipality of Pantelej”
The Association PLANT and Municipality Pantelej from Nis, from January to June 2012 implemented a project with the support of the Gender Equality Authority of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Republic of Serbia through the Program for Implementation of the First Phase of the National Action Plan to Improve the Position of Women Funded by The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) in cooperation with the International Management Group (IMG).
The overall goal of the project is to improve the economic position of women and achieve gender equality in the territory of municipality Pantelej.
The specific objectives of the project are:
- Encourage employment and self-employment of women
- Development of women’s entrepreneurship
- Reducing economic inequalities between the poles and the territory of Pantelej Municipality
The results of the project are:
- A survey of 300 female women aged 20-35 years living in the territory of Pantelej
- A published research on gender equality and the economic situation of women based on a survey conducted on a sample of 300 respondents
- Developed an action plan to improve the position of women and promote gender equality
- 50 members of the target group were trained
PROJECT: “Promotion of the right to a healthy environment through water and electricity savings in primary schools”
During October and November 2011, PLANT implemented this project under the auspices of the City of Niš, the Directorate for Economy, Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection.
The goal of the project is to educate elementary school students about their basic right – the right to a healthy environment, but also obligations related to the preservation of natural resources and their sustainable use.
Results of the project:
- Increased awareness of about 1,500 students and teachers on the right to a healthy environment and on the obligation to protect natural resources
- 4,000 flyers were published and distributed
- Measurements of electricity and water consumption in two primary schools were performed – Čegar and Njegoš
PROJECT: “Be OK! Properly throw EE waste ”
During September and October 2011, PLANT implemented this project under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning and with the support of Jugo-Impex EER Ltd. Niš.
The goal of the project is to develop ecological awareness and disseminate knowledge about the need to protect the environment of school youth in the city of Niš through improved information and promotion of organized collection of electrical and electronic waste.
The purpose of the project is to general strengthen the conditions for environmental protection and support the implementation of the National Waste Management Strategy of the Republic of Serbia.
Results of the project:
- 2.060 kg of EE waste collected for recycling
- 10,000 flyers were published and distributed in 10 primary schools in the city of Nis
- Special classes in elementary schools were held
- Awarded the most successful students in action by “Jugo-Impex EER”
- Increased awareness of school youth about the importance of separate waste collection and the importance of recycling
PROJECT: “Volunteering for a better world”
During June 2011, PLANT implemented this project under the auspices of the American Embassy in Belgrade.
The project aims to establish a volunteer club in the elementary school ‘Desanka Maksimović’ in Čokot. The purpose of establishing a volunteer club is to influence the development of the school environment, the education system and the local community through raising the awareness of the target group and stakeholders.
Results of the project:
- A club of volunteers was established in the elementary school ‘Desanka Maksimović’
- 5 workshops on volunteerism were held
- Volunteer brochures have been published
- A wooden artifact for the school yard was made
- 20 foreign trees were planted in the school yard
ACTIONS: “Be OK! Clear Serbia from EE waste! “And” Be OK! Clear Serbia from old batteries! ”
Within the celebration of the World Environmental Day and within the campaign ‘Clean up Serbia’ PLANT is organized activities called “Be OK! Clear Serbia from EE waste! “And” Be OK! Clean Serbia from old batteries!”, by which an animated schoolteacher participates in the selection of this hazardous waste at 04.06.2011.
This action was supported by the BEWMAN network (Balkan EE Waste Management Network).
This action is part of the Balkan Network for the Proper Management of E-waste project, funded by the European Union, implemented by Metamorphosis Foundation (MK), ComputerAid International (UK), ZaMirNet (HR), and BlueLink Foundation (BG) and Center for the Development of Civil Society PROTECTA (SRB).

ACTION: “Be OK! Properly deferred EE waste! ”
As part of marking Earth Day on April 22, 2011, PLANT organized an activity titled “Be OK! Properly deferred EE waste! “Through which it promoted the importance of recycling electrical and electronic waste (EE waste) by setting up a container for EE waste in the Park (St. Sava Square) and sharing flyers with information on EE waste.
This action was supported by BEWMAN Network (Balkan EE Waste Management Network), Jugo-impex E.E.Reciklaža from Niš and Mediana City Municipality.

PROJECT: “White Church 1”
During February of 2011, PLANT started the implementation of the project “White Church 1”.
The aim of the project is to set up the Kurumlija municipality on the European tourism map through the development of sustainable tourism.
The project’s activities are aimed at encouraging the inhabitants of the municipality of Kuršumlija to increase tourist capacities in private accommodation.
The result of the project will be reflected in the improvement of the quality and volume of tourist services, employment and the economic development of the Municipality of Kuršumlija.
PROJECT: “Be OK! A promotional campaign for collecting old batteries in primary schools “
In the period from October to December 2010, PLANT implemented this project under the auspices of the Environmental Protection Fund of the Republic of Serbia and with the support of the Regional Center for Education and the Municipality of Mediana.
The project aims to develop ecological awareness and disseminate knowledge about the need to protect the environment of school youth in the Nisava region through improved information and promotion of organized collection of old batteries.
The purpose of the project is to general strengthen the conditions for environmental protection and support the implementation of the National Waste Management Strategy of the Republic of Serbia.
Results of the project:
- 1.7 tonnes of old batteries that were shipped for recycling were collected
- Over 29,000 pupils from 47 primary schools in the Nisava region have been informed about:
- Importance of selected collection of waste
- About dangerous nature pollutants we use on a daily basis
- The importance of collecting old batteries
- The importance of recycling
- Promoted collection of old batteries through:
- Installing boxes for old batteries in all primary schools in Nisava region
- Creating flyers / timetables for all pupils with information on the importance of collecting old batteries

During June 2010, PLANT implemented a project entitled “Without Borders” under the auspices of the American Embassy in Belgrade.
The aim of the project is to affirm cosmopolitanism and friendship as a lasting value and to represent the values of the USA to the citizens of Nis through literature and sports.

- Competition in ‘street basket’
- Organizing competitions in American football
- Organizing a literary evening on American children’s literature

2009/2010 – The project under the reference number 06SER02 / 04/001/011 was realized in the framework of the Neighborhood Cooperation Program Bulgaria-Serbia 2006, a joint grant scheme for sustainable economic development. The project was realized in cooperation with a partner from Bulgaria “Cluster for Alternative and Local Efficiency – KALE” from Belogradchik
Project objective:
Improving cross-border cooperation in the field of sustainable economic development and improving the socio-economic situation in the border region of Belogradcik-Niš through the introduction and implementation of ISO 14001 standards in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of the Niš region through the exchange of knowledge and good business practices of businessmen in the border region.
The project is aimed at establishing new forms of cross-border cooperation and creating conditions for further linking of economic entities and stakeholders of the border region.
Direct results of the project:
- Information seminar on ISO 14001 standards
- Five-day education on ISO standards
- 20 managers of production companies have passed education on the introduction of the ISO 14001 standards
- A published trilingual brochure on ISO 14001 standards
- Exchange of experience with businessmen from Bulgaria
- Established network of businessmen in the border region
- Increased awareness of manufacturers about the need to introduce ISO 14001 standards
- Established databases of companies that have ISO 14001 standard
- A link is established on the website with information on ISO 14001 standards

PROJECT: “Cooperation on Cross-border Development Project”
2007 with Bulgarian NGO “Cluster for Alternative and Social Efficiency – CALE Association” joint project entitled “Cooperation on Cross-border Development Project” was imlemented.
The aim of the project is to improve cross-border cooperation in order to develop sustainable economic development of eco-tourism in the border regions of Belogradchik-Nis and create a common space for the development of economic activities, and above all the development of ecological tourism.
The results of the project:
-Improved awareness of stakeholders and opportunities for development of local tourism organizations, SMEs in the field of tourism, public institutions and local authorities, institutions in the field of education and culture in the field of sustainable tourism development and their role in the sustainable economic development of the border region;
-The marketing strategy with the long-term goals of developing sustainable tourism products, with clearly defined approach and means for marketing of tourist destinations Belogradchik-Niš;
– An electronic database for traditional tourism products, typical for border regions, was formed;
– Experience and examples of good practice between stakeholders from the border regions of Belogradchik – Nis were discussed at the forum held on 22-23.11.2008. In Belogradchik, Bulgaria;

In 2006, Plant implemented a project entitled “Participation of citizens in the process of improvement of public utility hygiene on the territory of the city of Nis”, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, Environmental Protection Administration.
The aim of this project is to inform the general public about the possibilities of improving public utility hygiene
The results of the project:
– Published brochure of 500 copies for the domestic professional, scientific and general public;
-The site on which visitors are familiar with the problems of public utility waste and the possibilities of improving public utility hygiene;
-Press conference.
PROJECT: “Holding a panel discussion and publishing a brochure with the topic” Solid Waste Management “
In 2005, Plant implemented a project titled “Maintenance of the panel discussion and publication of a brochure on the topic” Solid Waste Management “, which was implemented by the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, the Environmental Protection Administration.
The aim of this project is to inform the general public about the possibilities of recycling, which would be the first step towards raising people’s awareness that proper solid waste management can contribute to the elimination or reduction of environmental damage, reducing waste, saving raw materials and energy.
The direct results of the project were:
– A brochure of 500 copies for the domestic professional, scientific and general public;
-The site where visitors are informed about the problem of waste recycling;
-A press conference was held.
