Today is the Earth Day, April 22
In more than 150 countries around the world, including Serbia, today, Earth Day will be celebrated (April 22), in order to increase people’s awareness of environmental threats.
As part of this year’s Earth Day 2017 celebration, special attention will be paid to public participation in decision-making on impact assessment strategies, the issuance of integral licenses, the problem of the development of “climate literacy” and the greater participation of women in environmental efforts (the principle of gender equality) .
Earth Day was established in 1970 in the United States after an ecological campaign and has been celebrated worldwide since 1992 when a long-term Program for the Promotion of Sustainable Development was established at the Rio de Janeiro Environmental Conference.
Experts warn that man’s action has led to dramatic pollution of the environment and that a large number of plant and animal species around the world have been extinct before extinction, which leads to serious disturbance of the entire ecosystem and biological diversity.

MARCH 22 – WORLD WATER DAY
PLANT was celebrated today by the World Water Day, which is celebrated this year under the slogan “Why waste water?” and refers to a reduction in production and an increase in reuse of wastewater.
Today, 663 million people in the world still do not have drinking water from the so-called “Improved” sources (sources protected from contamination, primarily from contamination by faecal matter). By 2050, almost 70% of the world’s population will live in cities, as opposed to the current 50%. Currently, most developing cities do not have adequate infrastructure and resources for efficient and sustainable wastewater management. Opportunities for wastewater exploitation are enormous. Safe wastewater treatment is a cheap and sustainable source of drinking water, energy, nutrients and other renewable materials.
The wastewater management costs are not small, but positively affect human health, economic development and environmental protection, and in addition, provide new business opportunities, especially in the field of environmental protection.
What each of us can do is to save water from tap water, reduce the amount of waste water generated and thus contribute to the preservation of the environment and human health.

21.MARCH, WORLD DAY OF THE FOREST
PLANT today celebrated World Forest Day, March 21, which was established in 1971 by the General Assembly of the European Confederation of Agriculture, in order to increase the awareness of the world public about the importance and role of forests for people.
After that, the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 made a decision to mark the International Forest Day every year on March 21, on the day of the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere, or on the day of autumn equinox on the southern hemisphere.
The theme of this year’s celebration of the Forest Day is “Forest and Energy,” since energy derived from forest is the largest source of renewable energy used around the world and makes up about 40 percent of the supply from renewable sources.

WORLD DAY OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY – 5 MARCH
The Plant today celebrated the World Energy Efficiency Day, March 5, which should remind us of the savings, as well as the rational use of energy, primarily from renewable sources, not fossil fuels.
Energy efficiency means less energy and heat consumption, or smart behavior that needs to provide the same goods and services with the use of less energy resources, which is achieved by improving the production process, by co-generation (simultaneous production of electricity and heat), recycling, collection and exploitation of secondary production products and using only the energy that is really needed.
Serbia consumes twice more energy than the world average and six times more than some of the countries of Europe. Houses and buildings in Serbia are poorly isolated. Up to four fifths of energy is lost through the walls and old windows, and only 25% of the electricity consumption is spent on inefficient heating.
At 28.02.2017. at 12 o’clock, the final press conference of the project “ENLARGING YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS” was held, which was realised by the Association of citizens PLANT in partnership with the Agricultural Advisory Service Agrozem doo and the Association Civic Initiative for Employment from Nis, and financed from the budget of the Republic of Serbia – Ministry Youth and the Republic of Serbia
